#TAS26 Preview: Japan’s market leader targets an ‘AI-first’ future platform

We are developing a next-generation ticketing platform built around an ‘AI-first, human-second’ operating model to maximise operational efficiency.

We are developing a next-generation ticketing platform built around an ‘AI-first, human-second’ operating model to maximise operational efficiency.

A delegation from eplus – one of Japan’s leading ticketing companies – will join TheTicketingBusiness ASIA 2026 for the first time this October.

Leading the delegation will be Daisuke Yokoyama, Executive Officer of eplus, Inc.

Through its nationwide ticketing operations and its e+app, the company has become one of Japan’s most recognised names in ticketing.

Ahead of #TAS26, Daisuke shared some thoughts with TheTicketingBusiness on mobile ticketing, AI-led operations and the challenges facing Japan’s growing entertainment sector.

TheTicketingBusiness: What does eplus do?
Daisuke Yokohama: eplus, Inc. is a leading Japanese ticket sales and distribution company operating nationwide. As a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., we serve more than 28 million members and operate e+app, Japan’s largest mobile ticketing application.

TTB: What projects are you currently working on?

DY: Although collecting physical tickets from convenience stores has historically been the norm in Japan, we are accelerating the transition to mobile ticketing.

At the same time, we are developing a next-generation ticketing platform built around an “AI-first, human-second” operating model to maximise operational efficiency.

TTB: What business trends are you seeing in the region?

DY: New state-of-the-art arenas and an increase in large-scale concerts are driving strong market growth and higher transaction volumes.

At the same time, Japan’s shrinking workforce and rising operating costs are creating concerns about the long-term sustainability of the live entertainment and sports sectors.

TTB: Why are you attending TheTicketingBusiness ASIA?

DY: Japan’s live entertainment and sports industries have unique business practices that often differ from global standards, sometimes prioritising legacy customs over economic efficiency.

We are attending #TAS26 to learn from international operators and cutting-edge technology providers, with the goal of supporting sustainable growth and continued modernisation across Japan’s entertainment industry.

What areas of the business are your key focus?
DY: Our focus is on using AI to streamline operations and strengthen marketing, while creating a ticketing ecosystem that is healthy, fair and sustainable for event organisers and fans.

Meet Daisuke Yokohama and the eplus delegation – alongside leading ticketing, entertainment, sports and technology executives from across the region – only at TheTicketingBusiness ASIA 2026, in Hong Kong from 13–15 October.
